Why do you need ancient armor?
Updated June 28, 2018 10:35:08 Archaeologists have uncovered a rare trove of ancient weapons and armor from an ancient civilization in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, according to reports.
Indian archaeologists uncovered the artifacts in the town of Rameshwaram, near the border with Sri Lanka, the Times of India reported.
“We found the relics of a sophisticated warband in the area and are currently analyzing them for the purpose of preserving their history,” a police official told the newspaper.
According to the Times, the artifacts were unearthed during an archaeological dig, where the local police had uncovered a large cache of weaponry and armor, including swords and spears, axes, daggers, swords and lances, spears and shields.
It is unclear how many items the weapons were found in, but the items were reportedly very ancient, with a history of several centuries, the newspaper said.
Indian police have reportedly launched an investigation into the find, and have reportedly been investigating the relics since last November.
